It’s Time For a “Youth Revival”
#Hillsong #Y&F #TigerStrypesBlog

I heard about the new Hillsong Young & Free “Youth Revival” CD from Capitol CMG Marketing and couldn’t wait to get it to listen to. My husband, and our son love the Hillsong music and lately they have been coming out with some great CD’s. I was worried that this one being a “Youth Revival” might be a bit young for me, but I absolutely love it.

The sound is amazing and hearing the cheers and clapping in the background from it being a live performance, it really makes you feel that you’re in the crowd enjoying this worship experience. What a great roundup of music for the youth today. So many think that church music is what their Grandma used to listen to and don’t know that like it says in Psalm 96:1, “Sing a new song to the LORD! Let the whole earth sing to the LORD!”, as long as we’re lifting up the music to the Lord, and it is for His glory, than any style is acceptable.

This is another great one for every Christian family, and those wanting to share the gospel with unbelievers. Let them know that this type of music is approved of and you can still be rocking out and having fellowship with one another!

Hillsong Church is announcing their new worship team, Young & Free, which is comprised entirely of youth and young people making music for God’s glory. The group debuted at the annual Hillsong Conference in Sydney, Australia, and released their debut single “Alive” this week at iTunes, which is currently at No. 1 on the iTunes Christian & Gospel single chart. It has also become the second single to reach the charts in their home country of Australia.

The song is available on iTunes here.

Hillsong already has their UNITED and LIVE groups that have a signature style of worship. Young & Free is more of what the youth are listening to now.

“Young & Free is more than a label, it is also our message and mission,” said Laura Toggs, team leader for Young & Free in a press release. “This is a generation called to stand strong in their youth and in their freedom, refusing to allow others to dismiss them for their age. Songs arising from Young & Free are unlike anything that we have ever done before, and we believe that through them young people will find life and deep, unending joy in Jesus. We are the voice of THIS generation.”

About the Album:

YOUTH REVIVAL is the sophomore record from Y&F. They set out to progress from their debut release ‘We Are Young And Free’ by writing songs that are timely for this generation in this moment in history. The good news of Jesus Christ is the hope for humanity, ‘Youth Revival’ is about presenting this truth to the world and giving people an opportunity to respond. The songs invite the listener to journey our on-going salvation with themes of us all as humanity being created with a purpose, the reality and wrestle of our fallen nature, the ultimate rescue to save our souls and both the process and finality of our redemption.

About the Band:

We are a youth ministry by name, but by identity we are a people who have found hope, salvation, joy, forgiveness and a future in Jesus Christ. Our songs are the overflow of our hearts and a reflection of life in Jesus. Y&F is simply and genuinely… US. The voice of THIS generation. The NOW generation. Bringing a new sound and giving expression to what God is doing in our youth now. ‘Young and Free’ is not just our name but also our message and our mission. I believe that God is calling this generation to stand strong in their youth and their freedom… AND I believe that these songs will see the captives set free. I believe that through this project young people will find life and deep, unending joy – in Jesus. We sing and dance for we are young and free.

The world is different for youth today because technology has brought them closer together and also made information also instantaneous. There is a lot of positive, but also a lot of negative that comes from this that I never had to deal with.

I think it is so much harder today for youth, there are so many more distractions without technology, plus I think there are a lot more pressures to be the best at everything.
