How To Make A Tower Garden

#DIY #Garden #Plants

It’s been awhile since I posted a craft/DIY project.  Things have been pretty busy around here, getting ready to start up the new family UTV Racing team with my husband and son.  It’s called “Redneck Edition“, since we’re part of that family! 🙂  Living in the mountains, and being able to enjoy working hard to play hard, makes us true Rednecks!

I finally had time to do some DIY stuff around the house, and wanted to share it.  Spring is here, but we’re still not able to plant up here in the mountains.  The oaks have not yet sprouted, meaning that the time isn’t right yet to start tilling the ground to get the garden ready.  I figured it would be fun to make a tower garden that I could have on the porch and be able to bring in from the weather, if needed.  I sure hope that you like it!  Have a blessed day, and please be sure to comment on, and share this craft on your social media channels – thanks!

How To Make a Tower Garden

Materials/Tools Used:

  • One (1) Large 16″ Planter
  • One (1) Medium 12″ Planter
  • Two (2) Small 8″ Planters
  • One (1) Small 6″ Planter
  • Potting Soil
  • Plants, Flowers, Etc.
  • & Time!

Instructions:

I started by putting one of the 8″ planters, upside-down in the bottom of the 16″ planter.  Then I filled it with potting soil, up to the top of the inner pot.

Next, I sat the medium 12″ planter on the inner one and filled it with more dirt.  I put in one of the other small 8″ planters upside in that one to make the other level.  Filling both with dirt, up to the top.  Then you put the next 8″ planter on top of that for the last of the tower.

Now, you can just plant whatever you want in each part.  I decided on some flowers for now, to spruce up the porch.  I might change that out for herbs, later in the year.

Now you can put it wherever you want, and enjoy the layering effect for a lot less money, than buying one at the store that is already finished!

I hope you like it!  Please take a minute to leave me a comment, and let me know what you would do different, or what you would add, etc.  Be sure to tweet, pin, share, etc. – thank you!!

I love this. It looks wonderful. I’m such a terrible gardener. I’m always awed by those of you who can grow beautiful flowers and plants. Pinned and Tweeted. Thanks for sharing at Snickerdoodle Sunday.

Jamie, That is a great idea and I love your choice of flowers. Looks like theone on thetop will grow tall and the plant on the bottom level will trail down. Great way to get some color in your yard.
