Make Some Fall Candy Dishes
With Fall finally here, and the leaves just starting to change here in the White Mountains of Arizona, I always love having my home decorated to match. Â I saw something like these on Pinterest and Real House Mom’s blog, and thought that they would be fun to make.
I wish that I would have bought some of the pots at Dollar Tree, when they were still being sold, but missed out on that deal. Â I got mine at Lowe’s and didn’t end up spending too much, which was a good thing. Â I also love being able to get the samples of paint for only about $2. Â You can get any color you want, and they end up lasting for a long time. Â So much cheaper, in the end, than craft paint!!
I hope you like them!! Have a blessed day, and please be sure to comment on, and share this craft on your social media channels – thanks!!
Make Some Fall Candy Dishes
Materials/Tools Used:
- Two (2) Small Pots
- Two (2)Â Small Saucers
- One (1)Â Round Bowl
- Paint / Pens
- Raffia & Greenery
- Corks
- Glue Gun / Glue
- Candy
- & Time!
Instructions:
I started by painting one of the pots, and saucers orange to create the pumpkin.  I know that they are already close to that color, but I wanted them to look even more like the squash.
Next, I used some painters tape to block some areas from the scarecrows “overalls”. Â I’m not the best at painting, so if you are crafty, you can get really into this with a lot more detail.
After that, I painted the other saucer, which would be the scarecrows hat.
Next, I added some of the raffia to the sides to be the scarecrows “arms”.
I then, glued some smaller pieces to the bottom of the “hat” to be the “hair” for the scarecrow. Â You can trim these, once you are done to however long you wish.
Once the “pumpkin” was dry, I added some greenery and a cork to be the stem (which made it easier to open).
After that, IÂ cut another cork in half using my husband’s saw. Â I didn’t want the one on top of the scarecrow to be as big, so figured by cutting it, it would work better.
I then glued that one to the top of the scarecrow’s hat.
Next, I used some markers to create the scarecrow’s face. Â Like I said, if you’ve got the talent for drawing, go crazy with this. Â I figured that he was lucky to get some eyes, with how “good” I am with a pen. :/
Next, I filled up the “pumpkin” with some candy, to have on our counter for when guests come over.
Next, I hot glued the scarecrow’s “head” to his “body” using my glue gun. Â I had to make sure of where I put the glue, so that it would adhere correctly.
After that, I filled my scarecrow up (I just used marshmallows to help with the photo, but added some candy after), and put them together on our counter for guests…and us, to enjoy!!
I hope you like it! Â Please take a minute to leave me a comment, and let me know what you would do different, or what you would add, etc. Â Be sure to tweet, pin, share, etc. – thank you!!
