Create a Back to School Crayon Crown 20

Create a Back to School Crayon Crown

I wanted to make another gift for the wonderful teachers in our area, and let you all know how I did it.  With the budgets of some schools at a very low amount, I personally think that teachers are forced to spend too much of their own money, for things that are needed in the classroom.  I thought that making the Crayon Crown would let them have a bit of necessary art supplies, without having to spend their own money.  It really only cost me a few dollars to make, and was super fun to put together.

You could change it up to include whatever you wanted, or felt would be put to good use.  Like I told the teacher that I gave it to, once the crayons and glue was used up, the Styrofoam discs could benefit a different project.  Hopefully the kids will love it, and it will help the teacher in the classroom!  I sure hope that you like it!  Have a blessed day, and please be sure to comment on, and share this craft on your social media channels – thanks!

Create a Back to School Crayon Crown

Materials/Tools Used:

  • (2) 6″ Styrofoam Discs
  • Rubber Band
  • Crayons
  • Glue Sticks or Other Supplies
  • Ribbon or Decor
  • & Time!

Instructions:

I started by gluing (2) Styrofoam discs together, as a base for the crown.  You could always just use (1), but then the effect wouldn’t be the same.

crown

I then strung a rubber band around the base to be able to hold the crayon border tightly to the discs.

crown

Now, I just inserted the crayons that I had purchased at the dollar store (what a savings) closely to each other, for the outer border.

crown

When I had that completed, I began adding more crayons to the open center portion, to finish up the top of the crown.  You just have to be careful to keep them standing up, and not falling over.

crown

To add a bit more craft or school supplies that the teacher could use, I inserted some glue sticks to look like the parts of the crown that stick up (like the arches).

crown

After that, I attached a piece of bulletin board border (also found at the dollar store) around the bottom to hide the rubber band, and act as decor.

crown

Now you can bring a smile to a teacher’s face when you present them with their well deserved ” Crayon Crown “.  They are after all royalty for doing what they do…in my opinion! 🙂

crown

I hope you like it!  Please take a minute to leave me a comment.  Let me know what you would do different, or what you would add, etc.  Be sure to tweet, pin, share, etc. – thank you!!

What a thoughtful gift for teachers! And this would also make a really cute birthday gift for a child. My kids would have loved that when they were little, along with a dollar pad sketchpad! #HomeMattersParty
