Nightlight Jar – #TBCCrafters (04/18/2013) 4

TBC CRAFTER’S HOP (#TBCCRAFTERS) – 04/18/2013

I saw this idea on DesignMom‘s website and thought it would be fun to try.  She did it as constellations, which I think would have taken too much time to design, etc., so I just poked away at a picture I thought would work.  You could make this entirely your own with whatever design and even with a colored tissue paper behind the foil for added color, etc.  Design as you wish and enjoy!!

“Nightlight Jar” Craft
Materials Needed:
  • Glass Jar (I used an old pickle jar, washed)
  • Foil pan liner or cake pan
  • Scissors
  • Small Screwdriver or awl to make holes
  • Bright battery powered light
  • & Time!!

  Instructions:

To begin this project, use your scissors to cut out the flat part of whatever foil pan you are using for the jar.

After you have that part cut out, you can dispose of the edges (or recycle them), and then cut it to size to fit inside of the jar.

Now that you have this done, use your screwdriver or all (or even a pencil) to poke out whatever type of picture you wish.  The bigger the holes, the more light shines through.

Now insert the piece into the jar, making any necessary trims for it to fit and still overlap just a bit on one side.

Insert your LED light, power it on and top with the original lid.  Great for a nightlight in kids rooms or for using outside at a party, if you want to make a bunch.  Hope you like it!!

You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.” –Psalm 18:28

Thanks Rebecca – I get a lot of help by looking around online and then making it mine!! It’s always fun to personalize things, right? 🙂
