"Just Hanging Around" Craft (#TBCCRAFTERS) – 04/04/2013 4

TBC CRAFTER’S HOP (#TBCCRAFTERS) – 04/04/2013

Saw this on Pinterest and thought it would be fun to make for home.  It’s set to use as shoe holders, but I’m sure that you could figure out many other uses for these hangers.  I’ll tell you one thing, what a chore to fine regular old wire hangers in today’s world!! WOW!!  I went to 5 stores and finally found them at Walmart (which I usually try and avoid).  Back in the day, we always had too many of them and as soon as you need some, you can’t find them anywhere!! Oh well, it was all worth it.  Hope you like it – enjoy!!

“Just Hanging Around” Craft
Materials Needed:
  • Wire hangers
  • Pliers
  • Wire Cutters
  • Duct Tape or Ribbon (Optional)
  • Large Buttons (Optional)
  • & Time!!

  Instructions:

To begin this project, use your wire cutters to clip off the bottom of each hanger you are using.

You’ll end up with two separate pieces.  Do what you wish with the bottom pieces.  I’m going to recycle them into plant hangers for my garden.

When you have the bottom of each one you’re going to use clipped off, pick up your pliers and curl the end of each.  If there are any sharp parts, you might want to use a file to wear them down.  I used rubber coated wire hangers, so mine came out fine.

Now bend each at the top part to lower the “arms” a bit, and bend the ends back up to form a “U” shape on each side.

It should end up looking something like this.  Hopefully you’re a much better “folder” than I am and you can have all of it be uniform!! :/

If you wish, you can be done here, I just decided to jazz mine up a bit with duct tape and a large button.  Just wrap it however you wish, with whatever you wish to make it a bit more decorated.

Now you can use them to hang shoes, purses or whatever there is that you need off of the floor.  Enjoy!!

It would make a good decoration in the house with plenty of hangers.

What a cool idea. My daughter has tons of flip flops all over the floor of her room!
