…Are You Familiar With This Term?
Have you ever been a part of an Apologetics bible study? do you even know what Apologetics means? The English word “apology” comes from a Greek word which basically means “to give a defense.” Christian apologetics, then, is the science of giving a defense of the Christian faith. There are so many people in today’s world who doubt the existence of God and/or attack your belief in God. There are also many false teachers who promote false doctrines and deny the key truths of the true Christian faith. The mission of Christian apologetics is to combat these movements and instead promote the Christian God and Christian truth.
One of the key verses for Christian apologetics is 1 Peter 3:15, “But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect…” There is no excuse for a Christian to be completely unable to defend their faith. Every Christian should be able to give a reasonable presentation of their faith in Christ. You don’t need to be an expert in apologetics, to do this. Every Christian, should know what he believes, why he believes it, how to share it with others, and how to defend it against lies and attacks. We are all commanded to be ready and equipped to proclaim the gospel and defend our faith (Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Peter 3:15). That is the essence of Christian apologetics. Now with this great book, our children and students of today can learn how to defend, proclaim and stand for what is true!
Here’s what my son (who just started high school) had to say about it:
“It was a great book, that really helped me to understand things much better. Some of the things that I really liked, were probably the tabs to find things easier, and also how it makes the Word easier for me to understand and learn from. This book has actually helped me in a short amount of time to learn some new things about bible stories. I like how has little notes from people that go with the study and also other little tidbits of information. It was a really good book, and I would recommend it to a lot of people. I would give from 1 to 10…a 10!!
Apologetics – Perfect Student Study Bible
Like the acclaimed Apologetics Study Bible that has sold 115,000+ copies, the Apologetics Study Bible for Students will anchor younger Christians in the truths of Scripture by equipping them with thoughtful and practical responses for whenever the core issues of their faith and life are challenged.
Multiple research studies have shown that spiritual focus often weakens among teenagers as they head into the attention-dividing realm of young adulthood. Up to 66% of them leave church altogether. The Apologetics Study Bible for Students works against that trend by helping this audience begin to better articulate its beliefs. In addition to the complete HCSB text and dozens of articles collected from today’s most popular youth leaders, including general editor Sean McDowell, this new study Bible also includes:
• Two-color design-intensive layout on every page for the visual generation
• Sixty “Twisted Scriptures” explanations
• Fifty “Bones & Dirt” entries (archaeology meets apologetics)
• Fifty “Notable Quotes”
• Twenty-five “Tactics” against common anti-Christian arguments
• Twenty “Personal Stories” of how God has worked in real lives
• Twenty “Top Five” lists to help remember key apologetics topics
Give Your Student the Gift of Confidence
The gift of confident faith…it’s available to all of us. But as general editor, Sean McDowell notes in his introduction to the Apologetics Study Bible for Students, there are sometimes hard questions that need answers in order for us to have a Confident Faith. That is why B&H Publishing Group partnered with Sean and a host of talented contributors to create The Apologetics Study Bible for Students. To encourage readers who have real questions by offering straight answers in hope that they will develop a stronger, more confident faith.
We are even offering a Confident Faith Sweepstakes to give away Bibles, free mini libraries of our best apologetics resource and even a trip for two to the National Conference on Christian Apologetics (NCCA) where some of the world’s leading thinkers will offer insights and teaching. We invite you to join us in tackling the tough questions…and if you know of a friend who might be encouraged by these resources, invite them as well.
Also, this summer, the gift of Confident Faith is being celebrated with 16 brand new, but energetic and brief videos featuring Sean McDowell, free resources like Bible Studies and articles as well as wonderful specials on apps and Bibles. There are new resources every week – a full 16 weeks of resources when it is all done. AND, if that weren’t enough, a Confident Faith Sweepstakes is being offered to give away Bibles, free mini libraries of B&H’s best apologetics resources and even a trip for two to the National Conference on Christian Apologetics (NCCA) being held October 16-17, 2015 in Charlotte, NC where some of the world’s leading thinkers will offer insights and teaching.
