Get Organic Food Delivery with Green Chef

I heard about Green Chef from Mom’s Meet, and really wanted to find out more. I’ve heard so much lately, about grocery delivery and meal delivery options and haven’t really tried any out yet, since I wasn’t sure of quality, and the prices were usually too high for my budget.

In today’s world of fast-paced living, my family makes a point to sit down together for dinner every night. Using that time to talk over the day, and see how each other is doing, is so important. Our son is 16 now and we don’t have a lot of time left for family dinners, and conversation, before he ends up going off to college.

Being able to use Green Chef, and prepare dinner together for everyone to enjoy was so fun. The package came in the mail and I couldn’t wait to open it.  It was a really big box:

When I opened it, I found these cold packs, which brought a smile to my face, and I just had to take a picture of them.

They tell you to freeze and reuse or recycle.  I thought that was a great thing.  Usually those type of packages go straight in the trash, but these could be used for lunches, travel or whatever.

I got everything out of the package to see what was included and was really impressed with the quality and freshness of the products.  Everything was packaged well, and I later found out that the different colored labels all go together to make it easier to see which items go with which meal…that sure made it easier!  Here are some photos of what was included in the package:

I decided to start with the Lemon-Chive Salmon for dinner that night.  Our son is super picky with meals and I know he loves fish, so this would be the perfect thing to try out first.  I started with the potatoes and got them ready to go in the oven – really simple to do:

I then got the salmon in the oven and worked on the salad, which I was really impressed with.  I love salads with different ingredients, and this one tasted great.  The dressing was even wonderful, and we can be a bit picky on flavors, so another great item in the box!

After everything was done, which didn’t take long at all, our meal was ready.  It was so good!!  My husband usually doesn’t like salmon, but said that this turned out well and he really liked it.  The timing on the cooking, etc., made it and the other ingredients come out really well.

I then made the other meal last night, which was “Italian Meatballs and Orzo.”  The taste was pretty good.  In the future, I think I would add some breadcrumbs to the meatballs, since they were a bit too….what’s the word?…..meaty?  Here’s what that meal looked like:

All in all, I was very impressed with the quality of ingredients, the flavor and being something that I would normally not make.  I cook dinner often, but having a picky family makes it hard to try new things.  Being able to try out Green Chef gave me an excuse for something different and I loved it.  One thing I wasn’t really happy with, was the packaging of the ingredients.  I wish that more could have been packaged in one container, etc.  I know that some were reusable, but there were a lot of plastic bags, that I probably wouldn’t have used again.  Maybe they are recyclable, not sure – I’ll have to look into that.  Otherwise, this would be perfect for new cooks, people wanting exciting food and to try new things.  The cost is a bit more than our budget could do (to use it often), but for once in awhile for something different, it would be great! I would definitely recommend it!
