“Creamy Snowman” #TBCCrafters Hop 6

“Creamy Snowman” #TBCCrafters Hop

I got the idea for my “Creamy Snowman”, from something I saw on Crafty Staci‘s page.  Her’s was cute, but I wanted to make my own!! Now that Christmas is over and the New Year has begun, all of us up here in the White Mountains of AZ are praying for snow.  Since we haven’t got any in some time, I figured I would just make my own snowmen from things I had around the house.  It was much less chilly and they aren’t melting yet!! 🙂  I’ll just be sure not to display them near the wood stove!! ha/ha

Hope you all had a great New Year celebration and are ready to jump into 2014 with crafting as one of your go-to’s for fun! 🙂

Please be sure to comment and share this #TBCCrafters craft, I hope you like it!!

“Creamy Snowman” Craft

Materials/Tools Needed:

  • Coffee Creamer Bottles (Label Removed, Cleaned)
  • Orange Felt or Foam Board
  • Decorative Material/Ribbon (for scarf)
  • Googly Eyes
  • Glue Gun
  • Embellishments/Pipe Cleaners
  • & Time!
Creamy Snowman

Instructions:

Being by making sure that your creamer bottles are clean and dry.  Pour some white paint into the bottles and shake to coat the inside completely.  You might need more depending on how much you put in.  I used about 4 spoonfuls of paint.

Creamy Snowman

Once you have the inside completely covered, let it sit overnight to dry.  Once it’s dry, you can begin by plugging in your glue gun or getting whatever you’re going to use to attach some googly eyes to the front.

Creamy Snowman

After you have the eyes attached, cut some “carrots” from your orange felt.

Creamy Snowman

You can decorate these however you wish.  Then glue them under the eyes so that the snowman can smell! 🙂

Creamy Snowman

Now, trim some ribbon to a good length to go around the bottle as a “scarf”.  I made sure to have a bit more than I needed for cutting it.

Creamy Snowman

Using your glue gun, position it as you wish it to be and add a couple of dots to secure the ribbon.

Creamy Snowman

Now, to make the ends of the ribbon look a bit more like a scarf, bend the end lengthwise together.

Creamy Snowman

Then, cut it diagonally to have it come out like bow ends.

Creamy Snowman

Now you have your scarf.  You can add embellishments on it, as you wish – or make it with yarn to be more lifelike. 🙂

Creamy Snowman

After you’re finished making sure his neck is warm, you can start making the arms.  Everyone does this differently, but due to only a certain amount of time, I kept it easy and used pipe cleaners.  Cut each pipe cleaner in half, and bend the tips to look like a hand:

Once you have it looking like you want, bend just a bit of the “arm” down to make it easier to glue to the bottle.  Position them as you wish on each side and using your glue gun, secure them on – I used a pencil to give it a push to glue tightly, so I didn’t burn my finger.

Now you’re done.  You can add little bits wherever you want, or let your kids draw things on them to make them their own.  I hope you enjoy this cute little guy around the house this month – hopefully the sky will bring us the real thing soon, so that we can make him some family members outside. 🙂

This is so cute! I have some of these creamer bottles at home, hubby usually just throws them away. Now, I can make them into something nice.
