TBC CRAFTER’S HOP (#TBCCRAFTERS) – 08/22/2013

Happy Thursday crafter’s!!  Hope you are all having a great week.  I decided to do something this week that while being a craft, could also be used as a gift.  I plan to give these to friends for the holidays and think it’s a great idea that you could change out however you wanted.  Different colors, different add-ons.  I already see myself making one with red & white, a candy cane and holly for Christmas gifts.  Pretty inexpensive and things that will be useful to the person.  Just a note: some of the things in the materials pic, I decided not to use.  I never know until the end if I’ll use everything I thought I would, so forgive me on that one.  Hope you enjoy!!

“Coffee” in a Mug Craft
Materials Needed:
  • Glass Cup/Mug
  • Dish Towels
  • Embellishments
  • & Time

  Instructions:

Begin by folding your dishtowel to fit into the glass.  Since I was doing a coffee size mug for the first one, I had to fold it in quarters:

to get a piece this size:

Do this for whatever colors you are using.

Now, layer them on top of each other with a little extra to one side to not have such a large edge that will show in your finished project.

Roll them both up together tightly.  Tightness and size will depend on the piece you’re using to put them in.  For a smaller, you’ll need really tight, for larger, keep it normal.

You’ll finish with a rounded piece that is all one level.

Once you have this all together, hold it tightly and push up the middle to give it a little fluff factor. 🙂

If you are using leaf pieces or other embellishments, just trim them to fit into the container.  You don’t want them so big that they stick out too much.

Now you can insert it into your cup, and arrange as needed.

I made another one with a different shaped glass, just to show you the other options.  I hope you like it!

It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.” –Psalm 19:6

You had me at coffee.
Such a cute way to gift items that are needed but are kind of blah to give.
