Book Review #BearingWitness #FlyBy

I heard about this new “Bearing Witness” book from FlyByPromotions and thought it sounded like a great book.   I wasn’t sure exactly what it would be about, but it turned out to be very interesting.  Learning about people such as William Tyndale and how a member of clergy, who was frustrated with William’s reliance on scripture told him “It’s better to be without God’s laws that the pope’s“, William replied “I defy the pope and all his laws, and if God spares my life, before many years pass I will help the boy  who drives a plow to know more of the scriptures than you do!”  So many people in the world are stuck on tradition and what the “world” tells them they have to do.  We need more people like William to share the truth.

I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn about historic and biblical facts.  Finding out about how many helped spread God’s Word, and those that some names, we’ve never even heard of, helps us to know that even we can be used by God.  Myself, as a Mom, a wife and self-employed business owner – working from home, is being used by God to spread His Word through Global Media Outreach.  Helping others around the world to know about the Lord and how to accept His love helps me to bear witness.

Thank you FlyBy for letting me read this book and review it. I know that my TigerStrypes readers will enjoy it!

About The Book:

What does it cost to follow Jesus? For these men and women, the answer was clear. They were ready to give witness to Christ in the face of intense persecution, even if it cost them their lives. From the stoning of Stephen to Nigerian Christians persecuted by Boko Haram today, these stories from around the world and through the ages will inspire greater faithfulness to the way of Jesus, reminding us what costly discipleship looks like in any age.

Since the birth of Christianity, the church has commemorated those who suffered for their faith in Christ. In the Anabaptist tradition especially, stories of the boldness and steadfastness of early Christian and Reformation-era martyrs have been handed down from one generation to the next through books such as Thieleman van Braght’s Martyrs Mirror (1660). Yet the stories of more recent Christian witnesses are often unknown.

This book is part of the Bearing Witness Stories Project, a collaborative story-gathering project involving Anabaptist believers from many different traditions and locations.
