Create “Yarn Pumpkins” – #TBCCrafters Hop
I saw something kind of like this on Pinterest, however they just wrapped it around their hand and never cut it open, so it looked a bit messy to me. I recently bought a Clover Pom-Pom Maker and wanted to try it out, so I thought this would be a great way to do it. Fall is my favorite time of year, and pumpkin crafts are even good during the Thanksgiving holiday time, so I figured “why not make more and decorate the house”. Very easy to do and I had about 8 of them done in the time it used to take me to make 1 using my hand. Also, with arthritis, it kind of hurts to wrap it around my fingers and keep them that way for awhile – this made it so much easier to do!
I hope you like it!! Have a blessed day, and please be sure to comment on and share this #TBCCrafters craft!!
“Yarn Pumpkins” Craft
Materials/Tools Used:
- Orange Yarn
- Green Pipe Cleaners
- Clover Pom-Pom Maker
- Scissors
- Glue Gun
- & Time!
Instructions:
Start by using your Clover Pom-Pom Maker (or your hand) to create a pom-pom.
After you have completed wrapping your yarn around, you can then cut the sides in the middle.
When you have it completely cut, wrap another piece of cut yarn around the whole piece to secure all of the yarn – be sure to knot it tightly on each side, otherwise, your yarn ball will become a yarn pile!
After you have it secure, you can remove the pom-pom from the maker and start to trim any long pieces. Make sure to have it as uniform as you wish, or shape it more like a pumpkin (I took the easy route).
Now, cut a piece of the pipe cleaner (I love how the package I used called them “Fuzzy Sticks” – I guess that is now the politically correct way to say it.) about 2.5″ long and fold it in half. Then twist the bottom pieces together to secure, while it makes the top a loop you can use to hang it.
Now you can display them wherever you wish! I decided to use some ribbon I had, and tie them on with thin rope for decoration on our mirror.
Hope you like it! Please take a minute to leave me a comment and let me know what you would do different, or what you would add, etc. Be sure to tweet, pin, share, etc. – thanks!!
