Redneck Edition Racing – Mormon Lake August 2016 10

Mormon Lake, AZ (August 13-14, 2016) – We had a few weeks of a break between races this time.  Now we’re heading to Mormon Lake, AZ.  It’s off of Highway 17 south of Flagstaff, and somewhere that we had never visited before.  We left after work again, and drove about 3.5 hours to our campground. We came in during the evening and found a spot next to some friends we had met at another event, who race for Del Amo Motorsports.  Waking up in the morning and driving around, we found out how beautiful the area was:

There were only a couple of cars in the R.E. Racing class, so we just had to worry about a few.  The others were all larger engines, modified units, etc.  One got really modified at the end….look familiar:

The Mormon Lake track was kind of scary.  Turns were very close to each other and the dust was really bad.  I guess some of the residents complained so much about it, that they were thinking of never having it there again.  All of us really liked the track, as a whole and would love to go back, so I’m hoping they change their minds.  They guys did a great job on the track, taking the turns amazingly and learning from Pablo with Del Amo Motorsports a few tricks on turning and acceleration that really helped David to be more comfortable and even gain time on the course.  We also got to meet with the Wormhole Racing team and get to know them better.  So awesome to have great people at each race. So the guys did some great racing at Mormon Lake on both days, coming in first place for both of them.  Great job guys!!  It seems that we’re first in points overall right now for the 900 series, and have just a few more races to go.  We’ll see you in Payson the first week of October!  Until then, we’ll be tuning up the RzR, getting a new water tank for our toy hauler 🙁 and just having fun as a family enjoying the weather here in our White Mountains of Arizona!
