TBC CRAFTER’S HOP (#TBCCRAFTERS) – 07/04/2013
I am so thankful for all who allow us to be the home of the free, because of the brave!! God bless them and their families for allowing us to have the time to craft and blog and all of the other great things we are able to do in our Country.
Another great video I love at this time of year is one from a man that I so wish would have one like him in office today:
Okay, now back to #TBCCrafter’s :). My craft today is one I found on Christina’s Adventures Blog and wanted to change it up a bit. It is just a simple wall decor that could be changed out for any holiday by different colors, etc. Easy to make and one that you can personalize however you wish. Hope you enjoy!!
“4th of July Wall Art” Craft
- Styrofoam Circle
- Straws (+/- 24 / Color Your Choice / Half 2-3″ shorter)
- Glue Gun
- Piece of Cardboard
- Sticker or Embellishments (Your Choice)
- & Time!!
Instructions:
Begin by cutting a circle in the cardboard to match the size of the Styrofoam piece you will use, maybe even just a bit smaller to hide behind.
Mark the cardboard at 12, 3, 6 & 9 o’clock areas with pencil lines and hot glue 4 of your long straws. Then begin to glue the rest in order of length (small, big, etc.) around the whole thing until all are used and spaced accordingly.
When finished, glue your piece of Styrofoam over the top of this, being sure to have the cardboard as the backing and thus hide the glue, etc.
Next, add your sticker or other embellishments that you have decided to decorate it with (your choice). I designed my own graphic, and you’re welcome to use it (click here).
Now, add a piece of ribbon or any other thing you wish to use as a hanger to the back of the cardboard piece with your glue gun or whatever you are using. Be sure to get it attached well, since this is how it will hang. It shouldn’t weigh much, but I wouldn’t want mine to fall. :/
Now hang it up, celebrate our freedom, give thanks for what the troops do to allow it and praise the Lord for giving us this great place to live until we are taken “home” to be with Him – enjoy!!

That is pretty neat! Straws are making a comeback in crafts 😉
Too cute and so easy! I am definitely making one of these! Thanks for sharing!
What a cool idea! I never would have thought of that.
That’s why I loved it when I saw it. Easy to make and fun for kids!!
