Easter Stories
“Classic Tales for the Holy Season”

I heard about the “Easter Stories – Classic Tales for the Holy Season” book from Handlebar Publishing and thought it would be a great one to read for the Resurrection Celebration that is coming up.  I love how it has a bunch of short style stories.  This is perfect for family time reading, bedtime reading or for those that just don’t have a lot of time to read.  The artwork in the book is awesome, always helps you to place a picture with the story.  Here’s a few of the great pics:

Everything in this book was amazing, and definitely a great one to pass on to family members!  I could see this as one that would be handed down to different generations and enjoyed by many!!  I so love the poem at the beginning of the book that gets you started for the season.  It’s such an important piece to coincide with the holy day!!

Carol of Hope
by: Jane Tyson Clement

The lambs leap in the meadow,
The larks leap in the sky,
and all the bells of heaven ring
because our Lord rides by!

The sun lies golden on the bank,
warmth wakens in the deepest root;
like golden stars the celandine
now opens to the day;
the sherds of winter blow away
and buds break unconfined.

Stars of the heart, now open wide!
All frozen roots that once had died,
rise again, oh rise!

The lambs leap in the meadow,
The larks leap in the sky,
and all the bells of heaven ring
because our Lord rides by!

I got an email from Elliott with Edify Media and was asked to watch the “In Plain Sight” movie and review it.  He kind of started his email with “this is a bit different than usual”, so I wasn’t really sure what it would be about.  Learning about the problems with how girls and women are used in this country alone was mind-blowing.  You always hear about other countries doing things such as trafficking and bad things such as that, but rarely do you realize how rampant it is in our own country.  It’s sad to think that so many don’t have a voice, and aren’t able to speak up and know that they are worth so much more than they are being told.

This movie shows a few that have been able to get away from that lifestyle with the help of “Hope For Justice” and other organizations that help these women know that there are other options.  Hearing the stories and seeing some of the things being done, really makes you thankful that you live in a country that is home to the people with these great hearts.  The ones that want to make a difference and help out their “sister”.  Seeing how God is using normal people to change lives, was a blessing.  I pray that one day, we won’t have to worry about things like this going on.  Granted, in today’s world, that “one day” will probably be when God calls us Home.

Check out the information below about the documentary.  Also, if you, or someone you know is struggling with anything such as trafficking, domestic violence, or anything, there are links below that might be able to help.  I pray that those that need it, will take that step and feel the hand of God leading the way!

Executive Produced and Narrated by Natalie Grant
RELEASED TO DVD on January 13th, 2015

Stories of Hope and Freedom features six modern-day abolitionists as they fight sex trafficking across America. Premieres are scheduled around the nation in during January 2015. Journeying to six US cities, the documentary opens the viewer’s eyes to what’s happening down the street “in plain sight”. Through engaging interviews with numerous victims of sex trafficking, the force, coercion, and deception of the children and women becomes apparent. In the midst of the darkness, stories of hope and freedom emerge as each survivor shares how she was impacted through the work of a sex trafficking aftercare home.

“Most Americans are completely oblivious to the fact that thousands of women and children are enslaved within their own communities,” said David Trotter, co-executive producer. “This isn’t limited to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and New York. We’re talking about cities across America – from Sacramento to Little Rock to Baltimore – where the unthinkable is happening.”

“The reality is that children are being ravaged day in and day out. If you have a heart beating on the inside of you, I don’t understand how this couldn’t be important to you,” said Natalie Grant, narrator and co-executive producer.

With a focus on educating the American public and motivating people to take action, the campaign centers around three resources to be released by Word Entertainment. The DVD, music album, and 31 Day Devotional & Group Study Guide will be available in stores nationwide on December 23rd, 2014.

(I received this book from FlyByPromotions and was asked to listen to it and give my opinion.  Full disclaimer below)

I got an email from FlyByPromotions about a new book coming out called “Treasury of Bible Stores – Magnificent Tales” and was asked to read it and give my review on it by way of blog post.  I have a teenager, so I figured this book would be too young for him, but would be great to read and then give to his school.  Mountain Christian School always loves great books like this to share with their students and I thought something like this would be perfect for story time, etc.

The book was great.  The stories are written in rhymes and really keep your attention during the whole thing.  Even for this “old kid”, it was great to read and enjoy.  The artwork is absolutely amazing and I could so see this being made into a cartoon for the kids one day.  It would be perfect to have them in a Dr. Seuss style that went with the rhyme and had the great artwork, etc.  Just a thought author Kelly Pulley!!

Thanks to Laura Beth at FlyByPromotions for letting me get this book before it was released and to be able to share it with the kids in my area.  I sure wish my son was still young enough to be able to sit on my lap and have me read him a story, but at this point, that would probably really hurt!! ha/ha

About the Book:

Children ages 4-8 will be delighted by these rhyming Bible stories pairing spiritual truths with playful illustrations.

Magnificent Tales are rhyming Bible stories with clever art and clear lessons that the whole family will enjoy. The stories and illustrations are so engaging that you won’t grow tired of reading and rereading a Magnificent Tale night after night! From “The Salty Tale of Noah and the Ark” to “The Lasting Story of the Last Supper,” the rhyming tales in this book remind us that God loves his people—in the Bible and today!  Featuring lyrical stories full of lighthearted moments, this colorful collection of Magnificent Tales? is perfect for reading out loud. As families read these stories night after night, they will make memories together while learning about the Bible.

So the new “I Am Second” book is now out and amazing!!! The stories in here are from people we look up to, people we follow and now people we know deal with the same exact issues that we do every day.  I absolutely love the stories and how they were able to even in their down times, be used by God to spread love and hope.   While reading through my copy, I was caught by surprise that some of them were Christian and were willing to share their stories.  In today’s world the nonsense you hear from some of these supermarket nonsense mags really paint a different picture, from what I hear.  I never buy that junk – but reading these stories and hearing about their lives and how they’ve used the Lord in them is amazing.  I think my favorite was Darrell Waltrip, but hey, being a NASCAR girl, maybe I’m a bit biased!!

The stories in this book are amazing, the lessons taught through their trials are some you can take with you and learn from to help the Lord work in your life from now until He calls us home.  This would be a great gift to anyone going through struggles, or someone who just wants to see how the Lord works in daily life.  I loved it!!

Countless stories. One incredible ending.

A major league baseball player. a Tennessee pastor. A reality TV star. a single mom. A multi-platinum rocker. What do these people have in common? They’ve all hit bottom. And none of them stayed there.

Famous or unfamiliar, these are the stories of real people who reached the end of their strength, the end of their control, and found the most surprising truths. It taught them not to rely on self or substance but to lean on the only completely reliable source of love, hope, and freedom: the God who created them. Shocking in their honesty, inspiring in their courage, these testimonies are critical reminders that no one is too far from God to find him.

Join these and thousands more who have discovered the life changing power in putting God first and proclaiming, “I am Second.”
