I got a request to review this book by C. Grant & Company and couldn’t wait to get it.  It’s about the battles that people have in regards to faith, tradition and religious expression, so I couldn’t wait to dive in and see what it was about.  My portion of the book to blog about on this #waronchristmas blog tour is “Chapter 22 –  From Creation to Bethlehem”.  That chapter was very interesting.  Told of how much Christmas is changing in this world and a history of what the day is truly about.  The world is trying to remove the focus of Christmas being on Christ and just have it be a winter holiday – did you know that they are trying to rename B.C. (“before Christ”) to B.C.E. (Before the Common Era) and A.D. (Anno Domini, Latin for “in the year of the Lord,” Jesus) to C.E. (Common Era)?  Crazy how things are happening as noted in the book of Revelation!

The history of Christmas that led up to Christmas is better understood with knowledge of the bible.  Over three thousand times the Bible claims to be the revealed Word of the God who created the universe and all life, and who made Himself known to man. If it really is God’s Word, shouldn’t it explain the meaning of life and the universe?…well, it does.

Chapter 22 in “The War on Christmas” explains how the information on “The First Adam”, “God’s Instruction”, “Adam’s Fall” and the “Promise of the Last Adam” pertain to today’s world and what we can learn from all of these events.  It helps us understand how we can be “Clothed by God”…by doing what it states in Romans 10:9 “…that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved”.  It’s that easy – nothing we can do, nothing we can prove will earn our salvation.  The Lord Jesus, by dying on the cross took care of all of the necessary tasks for us.  If you believe, you are saved – no works, no tasks can earn that.

The chapter continues with information on how things in today’s world are changing in regards to how the generations of young people are being educated to believe in evolutionary ideals and things that would logically make them to reject the “Truth” of Jesus.  If you have people struggling with Creation vs. Evolution, direct them to a good friend of mine’s website (http://www.creationministries.org/) – Russ Miller does a great job in explaining how this can be proven to be a world “created” and not one that we have “evolved” in.

I love the last paragraph of chapter 22 – it says: “The message of the two Adams is what life is all about.  If we want people to understand this message, we need to ensure that we show them clearly that the history in the book of Genesis is true, for otherwise, they will not understand or listen to what is said about the Babe of Bethlehem.”  Now isn’t that true?  Just as it says in 1 Corinthians 3:11 “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” – if you don’t begin with the true foundation, your structure will crumble.

Do you have a foundation in Christ?  If so, let me know in the comments what you think of my post.  If you don’t have that foundation, would you like to know more or accept the Lord into your heart and be saved?   If you want to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, say the following words to God. Remember, saying this prayer or any other prayer will not save you. Only believing in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross for you can save you from sin. This prayer is simply a way to express to God your faith in Him and thank Him for providing for your salvation. “God, I know that I have sinned against You and deserve punishment. But I believe Jesus Christ took the punishment I deserve so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven. I receive Your offer of forgiveness and place my trust in You for salvation. I accept Jesus as my personal Savior! Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness—the gift of eternal life! Amen!”

I pray that this book will make a difference in your life as it did in mine – there are so many great things I’ve learned from it and I pray that from now on, my family can apply to our celebration of Christ’s birth and how much we value and praise the day of CHRISTmas!!

Merry CHRISTmas to you and your family – I pray your HOLYday is blessed! 🙂

Here’s more about “The War on Christmas” #waronchristmas:

War on Christmas

  • Is it a bunch of pagan symbols “Christianized” for the celebration?
  • Why is our concept of Christmas so important for those who don’t believe in Jesus?
  • Most may say Christmas is about the birth of Jesus, but are we truly worshiping Him or just celebrating the earthly gifts we give ourselves?

Filled with family get-togethers, office parties, breaks from school, decorating the tree, and more, Christmas is a time of peace and love. So why has so much controversy clouded this sacred holiday? It has become ground zero in an ongoing culture war where Nativity scenes are nixed, Merry Christmas becomes Happy Holidays, and even the word “Christmas” is considered by some as offensive. Find the truth about Christmas and the Christian’s response to a culture that seems to be declaring war.

I’m sad that every year another event gets it’s name changed…all of the Christmas parades are now “Holiday parades” and the like. There’s a big celebration here in San Diego that used to be called “Christmas on the Prado” and now it’s “December Nights”…it’s just not the same 🙁

I sometimes don’t like the focus on Santa where a person they get to briefly talk to once a year is buying them presents and they spend so much time trying to think of things they want this fake being to get them.

I wish Christmas wasn’t so centered on shopping. It gets insane just to run to the store for a loaf of bread!

It makes me sad that Christmas seems to have disappeared from my girls’ schools. When I was teaching, each of us teachers put up a tree in our classrooms and decorated with the kids’ Christmas artwork. None of that is done anymore in my kids’ schools.
