Make Some 4th of July Candy Rockets

I can’t believe that it’s already July. We’ll be celebrating Independence Day in just a few days, and I figured that this would be a fun thing to make for friends and family. I saw the original on SheKnows and loved it. Being able to make something that isn’t too hard to do, and brings a smile to someone’s face, is so worth it. The last picture shows a box card that I also made from a Cameo file….those were fun to make, too! 4th of July Candy Rockets

Materials/Tools Used:

Paper Straws
Scissors
Candy
Clear Treat Bags
String/Ribbon
& Time!

Instructions for the Candy Rockets:

I started by trimming the paper straws. I wanted to trim them to the length that would work with the clear bags that I had. If you have a larger bag, or don’t want to put them in one, you can just leave them regular size.

Once I had them trimmed, I created the tip of the rocket with some flat candy. Just roll it up (with clean hands) and shape it into the shape of a cone. This will allow you to secure it on the top of the straw.

After that was done, I started layering the round candy. I used a gummy and regular version in particular, but you could do this with whatever you wish. You can either put the cone on after this, or before, depending on how you want to slide the candies on. Just make sure to push it a bit, to have it latch onto the straw….without crimping the paper. Not like that was something I did, or anything. :p

When I had them all complete, I inserted three of them into the clear plastic treat bag. Be careful to not have the tops fall off, or damage the straws. Once they are in there, you can finally close the bag up with a string, or ribbon for instance.
