imagineI was so excited to hear that the I Can Only Imagine movie was coming out. We live in a very small town in the mountains and usually don’t get our theater to play movies like this. I called them, and advised others to, and they finally said that they would play the movie, if we could guarantee a certain amount of people would attend. We were told that it would only play for about 3 days.
Well, after about 8 weeks, it finally dropped off of their “Now Showing” board. We obviously got a lot more than they expected. Having movies that are family friendly, and have teachable moments in them is hard to find in today’s world. This one is definitely a keeper.

When I heard from Deanna from #FlyBy that the DVD was being released, I was super excited. I replied as soon as I could to ask her to add me to the list to receive it and blog about it. I loved this movie, and was SO HAPPY that I could now have it in my home to show to family and friends in the future.

The I Can Only Imagine song is one that has always meant a lot to me. I had previously learned about Bart’s story years ago, and how the song came about. I was really surprised, at how many did not know all that it meant. It’s always been one that I’ve held super close to my heart. I lost my Dad when I was very young, and always think of him being in heaven and what it’ll be like. I didn’t have to deal with any of the abuse, that was depicted in the movie, thankfully. Having my Dad come to the Lord, and only 6 months later being taken from us here on earth, it makes me imagine what it will be like. Just like it says, I cannot wait to once again, be by his side! 🙂

More Info on the Movie:

imagineIt’s the song that brings ultimate hope to so many … often in the midst of life’s most challenging moments. Amazingly, the song was written in mere minutes by MercyMe lead singer Bart Millard. In reality, those lyrics took a lifetime to craft.

Although he found faith at a young age, life wasn’t easy for Bart. He leaned into an active imagination and his love of music as escapes from a troubled home life. As he grew older, Bart turned to football in hopes of somehow connecting with his abusive father. But a career-ending injury—combined with the vision of a teacher who saw unlimited potential—set Bart on a musical pathway.

Chasing a dream while running from broken relationships with his father and Shannon, his childhood sweetheart, Bart hits the road in an old, decrepit tour bus with his new band MercyMe—named for his grandmother’s favorite expression. With the guidance of a grizzled music-industry insider, the band begins a journey none of them could ever have imagined.

Directed by the Erwin Brothers (October Baby, Moms’ Night Out, and Woodlawn), I CAN ONLY IMAGINE stars J. Michael Finley, Madeline Carroll, Trace Adkins, Priscilla Shirer, with Cloris Leachman and Dennis Quaid.

A gripping reminder of the power of forgiveness, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE beautifully illustrates that no one is ever too far from God’s love—or from an eternal home in Heaven.
