“Bake It” Fun with BāKIT Box

dividerI recently heard about the BāKIT Box company and thought that it sounded amazing!! During the holidays, I’m always looking for new ideas for quick gifts, and yummy treats for when family and friends will come over. What can be better than cookies for Christmas? or any other time of the year, for that matter?  I miss the days of having my son home and helping in the kitchen.  My granddaughter is only 1.5, so I’m not sure if I want her helping with baking yet.  Can’t wait for the day that I can have her come over to help.  Flour on the nose and yummy cookies coming out of the oven.  What could be better?

I really loved visiting the BāKIT Box YouTube channel.  There was a video on how the company was started, and it made me like the products even more.  I love supporting a business, led by women who went with their dream and succeeded.  Such an amazing story.  Be sure to head over to their YT page (link below) to find out more.

Overall, I was very happy with the baking kit that I received.  I know that there are many different ones in the grocery store, but who (like me) is getting a bit tired of sugar cookies? and chocolate chip?  I love that these ladies have different options, and from places that are like a mini vacation from your oven.  Learning about different cultures, and tasting things that are popular there, was an added plus for the box I received.  I cannot wait to order more and see where else the BāKIT Box can take me!  If you’d like to order some, use Coupon Code: FYIBAKIT1022 – this will get you 20% off any individual kit!

About the KIT Box, I received:

Arguably one of the most popular cookies of the winter holiday season, Spritz cookies are sure to please. Named for the German word “spritzen” which means “to squirt”, you’ll understand why when you get to step 4. Traditionally, one would use a Spritz cookie press that has different plates to give the cookies almost any shape you can imagine. We will be using a piping bag with star tip for a traditional take, however you can pipe the cookie dough to your preferred shape. Perfect for Santa’s cookie plate!

Serving size: 40 cookies
Cook time: 1 hour
Difficulty level: Easy
Bake within: 2 months

What’s in your kit? All Purpose Flour, Baking Powder, Unsalted Butter Powder, Granulated Sugar, Vanilla, Whole Milk Powder, and Piping Bag with Star Tip. You will need: 1 Egg Electric Mixer with Paddle Attachment OR Large Mixing Bowl and Wooden Spoon, Spatula, and Baking Sheet with Parchment Paper or Non-Stick Baking Mat Optional: Additional flavors like lemon extract or almond extract. *Please note: this recipe contains gluten, dairy, and eggs

I had never made cookies like this before, but the instructions were super simple to follow and laid out really well.  Getting started, I prepared everything as directed (adding some lemon juice to add flavor) and put it in the piping bag, but had a really hard time getting it to come out.  With the start of arthritis in my hands, that’s probably what the issue was.  I’m sure one with stronger hands would have no problem.  I just decided to skip that part and put it by the spoonful on the plate.  Definitely not as pretty, but hey, it worked!

When the cookies were all laid out (2 whole sheets, but I’m sure it could have been even more), I put it in the oven.  It only took about 20 minutes to bake.  This was a little different than the directions, but living above 6500′, I’m used to making changes in my dishes, so nothing new to me and still didn’t take very long!

They came out looking like my Grandma’s cookies, and were super soft and golden on the bottom.  I wish I could have had the beautiful shapes like shown on the package.  I think with the next kit that I buy, I’ll just have my husband do that part to keep it easy.

The kit is amazing, and has everything you need, except for just a few basic ingredients.  These are perfect for those that don’t bake too often, and want that special something for a party, etc.  I think I’m going to buy a few more, just to have in the cupboard for when that last minute event happens.  They are so easy to make, and have such quality ingredients, I would be very proud to share them.  A huge thanks to the BāKIT Box company for letting me try this great product, and have some fun getting flour on my nose!

About the BāKIT Box Company:

boxAt BāKIT Box, we are taking the intimidation out of baking! Baking should be fun and easy, and more importantly, it should be accessible for all ages and experience levels.

We started this company when realizing how challenging and intimidating it can be to bake at home. We aim to make that entire process easy for you, so you get to focus on the fun part! No online research of sifting through recipes, no grocery runs, and no researching baking terms while you bake. We got you!

Every month we will bring you new recipes with a culturally diverse flair. Some will be sweet and some will be savory. Some will be easy and some will be challenging. All will give you a chance to bake truly delicious treats!

That sounds like such a fun project. I love baking. That does sound like such a simple and convenient way to make cookies. It’s something we would try ourselves.
