The Life We Never Expected
(Book Review & Giveaway)
#LifeWeNeverExpected #FlyBy

I received the The Life We Never Expected book from FlyByPromotions and thought it sounded like a great read.  The subtitle says “Hopeful reflections on the challenges of parenting children with special needs.”  I have so many friends, and have heard so many stories of how hard this can be, and yet what a pleasure it is, as well.

I remember years ago hearing that I would probably never have children, and if I was to ever get pregnant, my child would be born with Spina Bifida or Down Syndrome due to medications that I had been on for Epilepsy.  Doctors told me this at the age of 16, which scared the heck out of me.  When my husband and I found out we were having a baby years later, of course the doctors wanted to do every test that they could to see if anything was wrong, etc.  We decided not to, and just had the regular sonograms to make sure everything was in place.  We didn’t care if our baby was born with any problem, we would love them no matter what.  Praise God that we were blessed with a son who only had asthma (which both of us do) and is almost deaf in one ear due to birth defects, plus had a soft cleft palate that was repaired when he was 1.

There were struggles with getting things done, but all in all you get through it.  Any parent with a child with no challenges, or many will all be strong and be able to get through it.  I know so many that I’ve gone to church with that said it actually made them a better person, and had them really give thanks for their own life.

This book has that type of story.  I love how the authors are using their struggles and what they learned to help others.  That is such a blessing to know that the family that will deal with these things one day, will be able to read Andrew and Rachel’s story and feel like they can be strong and get through it.  I would recommend it to any family and advise you to buy one for a friend to share. It’s a great book! Thank you #FlyBy for letting me read a great story!
